Dear Parents,
This week we are taking what we learned in the past and are adding thinking outside the box. This week 7th and 8th grade are making board games based on what they have learned from before. For example, 8th grade is creating a board game about blood and the recipe for blood that we learned which includes platelets, white blood cells and red blood cells. 7th grade learned about Mitosis (Cell Division), Meiosis, and our hereditary materials of DNA. 6A is working on their game board about Mitosis-Cell Division. 6B is going to play catch up and have an oral class quiz based on what they learned about the different cell parts and then we will head into Mitosis. They will have their board game project next week. This will be counted for 3 games, content, creativity and the class will each have a "game day" on Thursday/Friday depending on when they have class. Their peers will be grading them and the average from that grade will be the 3rd grade for the project.
Next week, we will continue to learn a grade level above in Science. 8th grade will be learning about Diffusion, Osmosis, and Active Transport (High School level biology) and 7th grade will jump into chemical reactions, laws of conservation of mass (8th grade Chemistry) and 6th grade will continue with cell division (7th grade)
This week there will be no tutoring, I need to go to UTEP for my class and graduation meetings with my advisor. If you have any questions, please feel free to e-mail me at [email protected]
Below are some photos of the game examples being used by 7th grade. These classes are amazing.
